World March

Nepal Humanist Forum has been launched

The Nepal Humanist Forum has been launched.

The First Forum was held at Kathmandu, Nepal, on 29 Nov 2008 as a full day event, with participation of 150 people including Organizations, Media and Personalities.
The Forum saw complete and heartfelt participation of people present there and the following Tables had very positive and participative discussions leading to concrete proposals for each area :

1. Women
2. Youth and Communications
3. Education
4. Health and Quality of life
5. Environment
6. Cultural Diversity
7. Role of Nepal in AsiaPacific.

One of the many highlights of the Forum took place when the participants were asked to endorse the World March for Peace & Non-violence. The response was a wholehearted complete and strong support for the World March for Peace & Non-violence by a resounding ovation.
Members from Australia, Bangladesh and India participated apart from those representing 10 districts/locations across Nepal.
Asia-Pacific Spokesperson of Humanism was also present on this occasion.
Contacts have been established with media (Print, Radio and TV) and this resulted in a TV announcement of the Forum. A Radio message on Peace & Non-violence has also been recorded by the “Radio Nepal” to be repeatedly broad-casted in the coming days.

First Humanist Forum Nepal - 29 Nov 2008

Nepal Humanist Forum invites individuals and organizations from across Nepal who share concerns related to different aspects of the well being and development of human being and society.
The Forum’s aspiration is to become an instrument for information, interchange and discussion amongst people and institutions belonging to the rich diversity of Nepal.
It is based on the need of great independence and freedom of judgement to formulate questions and areas of interest not constrained by the ‘established’ institutions.
It intends to set the basis for a regional discussion in future.
It values the contributions made to this day by different currents of thought and action regardless of their practical success or failure.
It values diversity of cultures with different positions values and lifestyles.

Location : Padma Kanya Collage, Bagbazar, Kathmandu Nepal.
Date : Saturday 29 Nov 2008. 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs.

You will get more details of the Forum in next days as they get fialised. A team of members spread across Nepal, India, Australia, Hong Kong has started working on preparations and many more Humanists are expected to join the efforts everyday till the Forum-day, that is 29 Nov 2008.

We look forward to this blog becoming the reference point of activities of Humanist Movement and all its Organisms and Fronts in Asia Pacific region.
